Gustav Mahler: The Symphonies

One particularly striking example is the cover of the Mahler symphony cycle recorded by Leonard Bernstein with several different orchestras. Taking the FedEx packaging as her model, Aileen Reese arranged the design elements in such a way as to mirror one of the company’s parcels as closely as possible. Not only is the L in Mahler capitalised to imitate the logo, she also included tick boxes to indicate the size of the package and even a set of barcodes to identify the consignment. A perfect visual parody, executed with skill and humour, it would undoubtedly have met with Lenny’s approval.
